When Aram, owner and namesake of the Original Aram Sandwich, approached us to refresh his brand, we were inspired by his family’s incredible story—a legacy that spans generations of culinary passion and creativity. Our task was to design a modernized logo that honored the brand’s history while giving it a fresh, contemporary feel. We also developed new packaging for their signature sandwiches, which are now sold in select stores, universities, businesses, and government offices.

The story of the Aram Sandwich began in the early 1970s, when Aram’s parents, Khajag and Hildy Sarkissian, opened their first gourmet restaurant, Caravansary, in San Francisco’s Marina District. Known for its Mediterranean and Armenian-inspired cuisine, Caravansary quickly became a local favorite and helped pioneer a new wave of “nouveau” dining in California. To celebrate their son’s birth, Khajag and Hildy created a special sandwich using authentic Armenian lavash, fresh cream cheese, dill, and crisp vegetables—the now-iconic Aram Sandwich.

Fifty years later, that same sandwich has become a beloved staple found in grocery stores, cafés, and catering menus across the country. With such a deep-rooted story, it was important that our design work captured both the authenticity of its origins and the bright, modern future of the brand.

Through a refreshed logo and thoughtful packaging design, we helped Original Aram’s bridge the past and present, blending heritage with a renewed visual identity that celebrates the family’s legacy and continues to share their story with new generations of sandwich lovers.
